Our Team

Kerryn – Branch Manager

Art has always been a big part of my life. I still remember receiving a little sketching book at the age of seven—it introduced me to the basics of shading and drawing. My first creation? A wobbly sketch of a man on a bike with a grand moustache. I was so proud of it that I mailed it to my friend in the UK, all the way from South Africa, beaming with excitement over my artistic achievement.

That moment sparked a lifelong passion for all things creative. From then on, my bedroom floor vanished beneath a sea of art supplies—boxes of materials, ribbons, canvases, and paper, anything I could get my hands on. I pursued art through GCSE, then onto university, where I earned a BA Honours in the subject I love.

But after having my first child, life took over, and my brushes gathered dust. For years, I barely had time to create—until I discovered The Seasons Art Class. This incredible journey has reignited my passion, throwing me headfirst back into the world of art. And I’m loving every second of it!

Xana – Tutor

I have always been a lover of all things artistic and creative; painting, drawing, sewing, crochet, and crafting were not just my hobbies but a way of expressing joy and making sense of the world. As I graduated from finger paints and crayons to pastels and acrylics, I found my colourful, vibrant style. My love for colour, pattern, and design is reflected not only in my art but also in my distinctive dress sense!

I trained as a primary school teacher but I found that balancing my family life with the demands of the job was unsustainable, however, my passion for teaching and nurturing others was as strong as ever. I have been so lucky to have found my niche at Seasons, sharing my love for art in an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone feels empowered to explore their creativity. I find so many of our students start lacking in confidence but when they see the remarkable things they can produce they begin to fly and that makes me so proud.

Art Classes at The Jelleyman’s Mill

This historic site in Kidderminster has seen its character fade over the years.

Francis Jelleyman built the Mill in 1874 for his rope, twine, and tarpaulin business. Around 1890, he shifted to carpet production. Remarkably, many original features of the Mill are still present today.

To preserve this historic site from being sold to developers, The Jelleyman’s Heritage Arts Charity has been established. Their mission is to rejuvenate the site and celebrate Kidderminster’s rich heritage in creative endeavours. They aim to foster a community of individuals, businesses, and groups in Kidderminster, linking the past, present, and future of Jelleyman’s Mill. Seasons Art Class Wyre Forest is proud to be a founding resident!

The Jelleyman’s Heritage Arts Charity is keen to make the site a hub for artistic activities, and they are excited for Seasons Art Class Wyre Forest to make this our home.

Testimonials From Our Students

I originally signed up to do the art class to entice my partner back into art. Sadly he died days before the first class. It would have been easy not to go but I made myself. I hardly said a thing the first few weeks but now I've done four seasons. The teaching is good and everyone has been so lovely and welcoming. Thursday mornings are me time and have helped me through a very difficult time. Thank you.

I started Seasons Art Class in September 2024. Never having put pencil or brush to paper I felt nervous to say the least. Kerryn and Xana were very welcoming and provided support and encouragement. I am finishing my 2nd term and looking forward to starting my 3rd. To my amazement I can now sketch or paint and I find myself thinking ``that's quite good``. I had no art experience and at 57 I have found a world to lose myself in for a few hours each week with like minded fellow students. I can't thank you enough ladies. Definitely recommended 100%.

It's very friendly, and the exhibitions are good fun if you want to join in. Everyone is free to develop their own style and I like the fact you can either follow the step-by-step guides or use the general approach and techniques to create something along the same lines. It's really interesting to see how different everyone's work is at the end of each class. Because we use such a range of media and techniques, it really opens your eyes to new ways of doing things, so I think it's as good for people who haven't done any art since school as for people who regularly paint or draw but favour one way of doing things.

Felicity

I hadn't picked up a pencil for years but after a bout of pretty poor mental health I decided to seek out an art group. I went to the Christmas taster 2023 event and I've never looked back! I've met such lovely talented people and I look forward to our Wednesday night each week. We laugh, we encourage each other and we share our art. It's educational (thanks to Xana, our amazing teacher), they keep us fed, watered and organised (thanks to Kerryn, our fabulous leader) and the group helps us to improve, explore different media and be our best.
