Our Team

Jemma – Branch manager

I love catching up with my students every week, having made firm friends with many, it’s my favourite day of the week with the most fun I have ever had working. With art as a common thread, we’ve all much more in common than we may at first have thought.

Many students find their weekly class offers a break from the stresses of life and routine, offering a weekly escape where they can truly switch off and have fun, with the added bonus of finding their inner artist.

Claire – Tutor

Many years ago, I gave up my steady well paid job to follow a creative dream. A degree followed in graphic design, (specialising in illustration) and a teaching qualification and I have been lucky enough to be creating and teaching art, design and crafts ever since. (1999) and loving every minute of it. My approach is always to give advice and encouragement in a positive way, never negative, with lots of fun thrown in, but a serious intention to give students the skills to produce drawings and paintings they are proud of.

Kat – Tutor

Kat trained in Drawing & Painting at Edinburgh College of Art and works with a variety of materials and processes from drawing, painting and printmaking to stitch and digital drawing. As an experienced and enthusiastic artist and art teacher, Kat works with students of all ages to develop their confidence as artists and enjoyment of art making.

Art Classes At Our Honiton Studio

The majority of our new students haven’t touched a pencil or paint brush since school, some not even then; arriving on the first day excited and nervous in equal measures. Having enjoyed a tea or coffee they soon settle in to a fun filled class, commenting on how they’re looking forward to returning the next week having relaxed and loved their first session.

New students always receive a warm welcome and are supported not just by our tutor and class assistant, but also the returning students who know the ropes, always encouraging and demonstrating how they have improved beyond their hopes and expectations. Friendships develop beyond the classes, with many students meeting up between classes to paint together and often car-sharing to classes.

Testimonials From Our Students

Somewhat nervously I joined Jemma and Claire at Seasons Arts in Autumn 2022 as a total beginner, not having done any art since school, a long time ago. I have learned so much in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging environment, that now I have the painting bug. I paint several days each week and love every minute of it. I have even printed this year's Christmas cards with two of my paintings on the front. I’ve no hesitation in recommending Jemma and Seasons Art at whatever level you are.

Great camaraderie between students and tutors, learning a range of techniques in a very welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. Would definitely recommend whether you have never picked up a paintbrush or want to develop existing skills.
Liz G

Time put aside just for me, enjoying learning to draw and paint, putting aside day to day worries and allowing myself to relax, also it’s a lovely way of meeting new friends. Anne S Being with like minded lovely people who want to draw, paint and learn, is three hours of mental meditation, no hassle, just bliss.

When I joined the Seasons Art group three terms ago I struggled to draw an apple, so I’m delighted to say that I can now draw a passable fox and a pair of shoes to be proud of! Thank you Jemma and Claire for making the classes so enjoyable. See you again in January!
