Ever picked up a paintbrush, only to feel unsure of where to begin?
Maybe you’ve felt a little frustrated when your colours ran wild or the paper started curling? You’re not alone.
Watercolour can feel unpredictable at first, but once you understand how to use it, it becomes one of the most beautifully expressive mediums out there. Whether you’ve never painted before or you’re returning to art after some time away, we’re here to help you feel confident and inspired.
At The Seasons Art Class, we believe that creativity lies in everyone. With a little guidance and the right tools, you’ll be surprised at what you can create.
Keep reading to find out how we build confidence through watercolour in our classes.
Think of it as tinted water
Many beginners are surprised at how different watercolour feels compared to other paints.
But watercolour isn’t about layering thick coats of paint. It’s about soft washes, gentle transitions and transparent colour.
In our third module, we explore the unique qualities of watercolour and show you how to work with its watery nature. That’s why it comes a little later in our 14-week course – after you’ve already built some confidence.
Paper that supports your progress
Using the wrong paper can ruin even your best efforts.
Thin or poor-quality paper tends to buckle or peel when wet. That’s why our classes provide carefully selected watercolour paper designed to handle moisture and showcase your colours at their best.
High-quality brushes
A good watercolour brush holds water beautifully and lets you guide colour exactly where you want it. Poor brushes can leave you feeling out of control.
At The Seasons Art Class, we provide carefully chosen materials so you can focus on creating and not worry about struggling.

Relax, and have fun while you learn watercolour

It’s okay to make mistakes – it’s part of the fun!
One of the hardest parts of starting something creative? Getting over the fear of messing it up. But here’s something we tell all of our students: there’s no such thing as a perfect painting.
Watercolour is full of happy surprises, including the odd splotch! We’ll show you how to work with these moments and our classes involve practising lifting techniques to remove unwanted paint.
