If you have any questions at all about our art classes, we would be delighted to do whatever we can to help.
We have addressed some of the more frequently asked questions below, but if you can’t find the answer you are looking for, please email us (Just click here) and we will do all we can to help you:
How Long Do Your Art Courses Last?
Each of our terms last 14 weeks, culminating in an invitation-only gallery-style exhibition of the pictures you have created during your time with us.
How Long Is Each Lesson?
Individual sessions last 3 hours and are held once a week for each of the 14 weeks.
You can choose either a morning or afternoon slot to fit in with your other commitments if you wish, subject to availability.
Do I Need To Book In Advance?
Yes, you do.
Our classes are nearly always oversubscribed and it is necessary to pre-book for every course.
What Happens If I Miss A Lesson?
The individual modules are structured in a way that means you can easily catch up, with the tutor and classroom assistant offering one-on-one help where needed.
Are Your Lessons Oversubscribed?
Numbers vary according to the size of each venue, but we aim to keep class sizes small so that everyone gets plenty of individual input from the tutor and class assistant.
Please complete our enquiry form to check availability at your nearest class.
Do Many Students Return For Further Tuition?
Numbers vary as you would expect from one course to the next, but a high proportion of our attendees choose to come back straight away for further tutoring or workshops with us, with some attending our modules every single term.
What Areas Do You Cover?
We have classes all around the country, from Glasgow and Edinburgh down to Bournemouth and Brighton.
Please check our location map for the nearest venue to you.
We are opening new branches all the time, so if you can't see one near you please contact us as we may well be opening one near you soon.
What Mediums Do You Teach?
Our syllabus is suitable for complete beginners who have never drawn or painted before, through to improving artists who have already attended one of our foundation courses.
You will be given step-by-step training in sketching and drawing techniques, oil pastels, watercolour painting, the comparatively modern medium of acrylics, and finally, picture mounting.
Is Your Tuition Suitable For Beginners?
Yes, is the simple answer. In fact it’s ideal!
Each term starts with an introductory module and the individual sessions are then designed for students who are learning to paint and draw for the first time.
What Happens If I’m More Experienced?
If you are a returning pupil looking to improve your artistic skills after attending a previous foundation-level art course with us, you will paint different projects to the beginners and receive a level of teaching that is appropriate to your experience.
What Age Range Do You Teach?
All of our lessons are intended for adults only, with attendees ranging in age from 18 to 90+.
Many are ‘active retired’, keen to take on a new creative hobby now that they have a bit of extra time on their hands, and our weekly meetings offer a chance to socialise and mix with like-minded people, creating many long-lasting friendships.
Will I Be Able To Paint & Draw By The End Of The Term?
Everyone learns at a different pace and the individual pupil’s levels of achievement do vary, but our teaching will bring out the very best of your artistic talent, we promise!
If you are willing to listen to the tutor and are receptive to what you are taught, you will become an ‘enthusiastic amateur artist’ and learn to paint competently by the end of the 14 weeks, creating pictures you will be proud to show to your friends and hang on your walls at home.
